mcqueen via proenza

i stumbled upon these gorgeous kicks on jak and jil, and was instantly stuck by how much their silhouette resembles mcqueen's reptile booties. although a much more wearable version, i'm attracted to the curviness of the shoe and its powerful structure, and i appreciate the tastefulness of the animal skin, as well. i find that many of my animal print heels have created dusty homes in the back of my closet, but i really like how proenza schouler embraced the look here.

those boys, boys, boys

the very coolest of the cool, those proenza boys never disappoint. as fur is definitely one of the most resonant themes on this season's runways, i love their brightly hued take - i would kill for the jacket with the top-to-bottom purple fur lapel. color, texture, pattern - with a downtown chic aesthetic, are what hernandez and mccollough do fabulously.  this is a collection that would make me feel hip, and who doesn't love that?

pre-fall

thank you, refinery29 for being perfect and updating me with everything i need to know when i've never any time to check my blogs.

pre-fall looks amazing. chicago's mild and delightfully chilly winter has truly reinforced my love for cold weather, so i'm quite thrilled perusing image after image of layered, chilly-weather perfection.

sigh. i'm obsessed with everything here, although givenchy and proenza are my faves.

the boys

i have many fantasy worlds. some of them are slightly less involved than others. like wishing that my post-work trip to bloomingdale's wasn't just to pick up tights for kate and i, but to meet my personal stylist, who was going to outfit me in millions of dollars worth of clothes without me having to try any of them on and all the while, i'm lounging (fabulously) on a chaise lounge, drinking from a bottomless flute of pink champagne.

and then there's the fantasy in which lazaro hernandez and jack mccollough call me up, tell me they've designed a special collection just for me, and, oh yeah, they'd like to propose a three-way marriage, because they're both so in love with me that all they can fathom is spending the rest of their days doting on me and dressing me in their pretties.

i'm pretty sure that champagne-laden bloomies trip will stay in my fantasy world. but, as i look through proenza schouler ss10, i can dream it was all designed for me...

all those colors! the feathers, the SHOES...the completely successful 80s throwback -- one that weaves together equal parts chic and punk to create a look with so much freaking personality, i just love it. the collection includes fabulously tailored takes on the white shirt and the blazer for business, sequins for going out (ooohhhh, how i'd love to get my hand on that blue sequin dream), brightly colored, short-skirted day wear, and, overall, an amazing breadth of unique shapes. they're so playful, and so smart...they work together magnificently.

plus, dear god, look at those cute mother fuckers...they're perfection. thanks for the mid-day eye candy, my sweets.

ardent hypocrisy / resort part tres

yes...there's more.

proenza schouler: i am a die hard fan of everything they do. they're the epitome of cool, however lame that sounds. so stylish and so confident are their designs, i really have a deep respect for everything they do. love those boys, love their fabulous fabulous clothing.

givenchy: i LOVE this. i love it, i love it. the whole collection is so grecian, so ornate, yet with a really masculine edge. there's nothing dainty or elegant about the footwear choice, and although the draping is beautiful, some of the pieces were paired with really structured blazers, offsetting the usual elegance and flow of the grecian influence. i think the whole collection is really well thought out, and impeccably styled.

burberry prorsum: i fall more in love with burberry every season. this collection is so haunting, so "i'm a dead person in an old fashion photograph," and so fucking chic, i can't stand it. those shooooooes with the socks, and the rolled pants, and putting men and women together like they're a creepy, uber-stylish brother/sister pair...the aesthetic of the entire thing is magnificent, so androgynous. i think androgyny is one of the sexiest things in the whole world.

okay, i'm done posting/discussing resort now, i promise.

thanks for listening, i feel so much better now.
