Andreia Chaves

much thanks to the lovely emily hannan, a fashion photog here in chicago, for turning me on to designer andreia chaves' incredible, conceptual footwear designs.

according to design blog yatzer.com chaves grew up in brazil, and draws her inspiration from such. "The fact that I grew up in a chaotic city like Sao Paulo, full of contrasts, being in contact with such diversity and constant exposure to different visual inputs, has inspired me in how I think and conceptualize my shoes. Looking at my work, I can clearly see influence coming from my South American sense of versatility. Also in the mix - what I have been experiencing in Europe."

i will never argue with someone doing something different. i am in LOVE with the silver ribbon shoes, and would wear the glass-paned stuff of dreams in the first photo all day everyday.

across the world with galliano

another treat i found on moodboard, and i am obsessed with this worldly vogue 2002 editorial featuring galliano pieces. he approaches fashion in such a heightened way - extravagant, and costumey and so totally saturated with color and texture. i love how communicative each of these shots are. the different ethnicities portrayed are clear, the mood of the clothing emanantes wonderfully. the whole thing is masterful, and styled impeccably. and the MAKEup! sensational.

spiked

i mean, damn.

i'm all about conceptual pieces, but these have got to be strictly editorial. there's no way these pieces have any functionality.

although i do love those nail-spiked shoes...
