gap is back

i have a gap card. it's from high school, and it generates little to no usage thanks to gap's inability to get itself together and get me some basics i need and love. until now. where it might just get maxed out x4.

i am in love with ALL of these shoes, part of pierre hardy's fall 2010 collection for gap. they are amazing and wedge-y and platform-y and made just for me. thaaaaaank you, gap, for finally putting out something i can love. i promise to reward you with my consumerism.

don't mind me, here's some good street style

sometimes when you're exhausted, burnt out on school and freelancing, and feel like you haven't been to the gym in years, you just need to look at some good street style. cheers for this beautiful eye candy as i lay in my too-hot bedroom in pj pants stolen from my sister and a big zit on my face.

i dye

i won't lie, i'm loving pastel hair trend. i wouldn't say it's traditionally "me," but when i opened up my whowhatwear this morning i was delighted to see such lovely individuals - whose style i often admire - rocking such different, and subtly bizarre, looks. so then i went through the rest of my fashion-related inbox, and lo and behold - refinery29 was featuring some of the same! fate was clearly nudging me with its sly little hand, so i knew i had to share my new found love with the world.

having jet-black hair, it'd be a lot of work to add pastel hues, but i could jump on board with some "glam strips" if they didn't look fake or creepy. who knows? there may just be some purple, or lime green in my future.

frenchy fabulousness + garment racks

charlotte gainsbourg is floating her melodic french vocals our way with a new album, "IRM." i love her music, her, and her bedroom full of garment racks (someday my bedroom will be filled with garment racks. then, perhaps, i'll actually know what i own.). these photos are from an interview she did with flaunt magazine.

what a gorgeous, lovely creature.

300 (and second!) post!

upon signing, i realized that this is my 302 post! sassafras (or, the sass, as i've affectionately dubbed it) is quite dear to me, and i get so much joy from blogging and engaging in the huge community that is the internet fashion world. huge huge hugs and kisses to all who read, and comment, and tweet!

in a world of excessive photoshopping, thank you to zink for expending a little creativity in this fabulously styled, delightfully disproportionate editorial, "get in shape," shot by gl wood.

gimme yo campaigns, baby

i love refinery29 because they love ad campaigns, and so do i. they also like to post the best of the best, which makes it quite easy for me because then i don't need to search for them.

so here are the best, in all of their marketable high fashion glory.

i ADORE the balenciaga campaign; i think it's genius. and the prada one is fabulous, as well. i love everything prada does, visually. their campaigns, their aesthetic, their styling - all divine.
i wish that my life was a montage of ad campaigns.

bedazzled

i absolutely love these bejeweled shoe accessories. as someone who owns a black version of nearly every shoe ever made, i adore the idea of bedazzling my kicks with some fabulous gems. proving yet again that accessories are the best, most transformative aspect of any outfit, i have now expanded my christmas wish list tenfold.

sidenote: speaking of - check out my holiday wish list on second city style! feel free to express-ship any of these amazing items directly my apartment, thank you very much.

spiked

i mean, damn.

i'm all about conceptual pieces, but these have got to be strictly editorial. there's no way these pieces have any functionality.

although i do love those nail-spiked shoes...

thigh highed seduction

I love finding new lookbooks. New lookbooks mean new designers, new ways to style, new photos to ogle. So much goodness all around. I discovered Erin Kleinberg on Refinery29 this morning, and fell hard for the super seductive photography, and her pairings of sheer thigh highs and oversized jersey tops. I think innate, unproduced sex appeal is the sexiest thing in the world, and the aura of Kleinberg's lookbook projects that well. I especially love how the model is barefoot in each of the photos, like we're seeing her seductive little self in her own home. Sooooooooooo good.

I'd also like to wish the happiest of birthdays to my very best and dearest friend in the whole wide world, my little Barbsy! She is the most fabulous person I know, and has taught me more about style, art, culture, music and everything than anyone I know (and she's scoffing right now as she's reading this, I guarantee you).

We love sass photos (she's the blonde, I've the black bob):

We also loved doing a photo shoot with this stone lion:

I love you, my little muffin nut! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo, jillzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarin
