change

is it time for change, or what? i feel like my life consists of schoolwork, the gym, and red wine (the latter two keep me feeling like an actual person when facing the prospect of not leaving my computer for days on end). i am cognizant of the fact that i'll be in paris for three weeks in just over a month, but it's the light at the end of such a long, ruthlessly obstructed tunnel that it barely even functions as a reprieve.

so - vogue australia! featuring meghan collison by benny horne. love the colors, patterns, attention to styling. very much into mixing it up and infiltrating a world with colorful inconsistencies. i love.

*the new header pic is one i've featured before, and is an homage to my desire to leave the interwebs and explore/exist in the world. worry not, though. i plan to voraciously blog from paris, and to post pictures constantly (if i can find my camera charger - eek!).

j'adore paris

i'm in such a street style mode right now. with all of the images revolving from fashion week street style, i had to jump on the bandwagon with some of my faves. these lovely women were all rocking their fierce personal style in paris - tres fab, tres chic. their ingenuity is inspiring me to NOT wear the same thing every damn day of my life.

style me fancy, elle greece

i love the styling for for this elle greece shoot. there's so much going on, visually, and each of the looks feel different in their own right. those over-the-knee boots are too gorgeous for words - i want both the maroon and the camel. and if i was a bathing suit kind of lady, you bet your sweet ass i'd be prancing around my house in my bikini and leg sheaths all day long.

300 (and second!) post!

upon signing, i realized that this is my 302 post! sassafras (or, the sass, as i've affectionately dubbed it) is quite dear to me, and i get so much joy from blogging and engaging in the huge community that is the internet fashion world. huge huge hugs and kisses to all who read, and comment, and tweet!

in a world of excessive photoshopping, thank you to zink for expending a little creativity in this fabulously styled, delightfully disproportionate editorial, "get in shape," shot by gl wood.

twentythirtyfabulous

when i first started freelancing, i interned at twentythirtyforty.net, which i know you all hear me talking about a lot. they do such great fashion, always featuring sublime, effortless styling. their newest editorial is stunning, and i just had to post it (thanks to brandon for generously sending me photos).

the 6th shot is my favorite...i adore those pants.

don't you want her weekend in the country? i do.

shopping your closet

i've always loved the concept of shopping my closet, but to be entirely honest, i've always loved the concept of just plain shopping even more. retail therapy is my true therapy of choice.

but, despite the fact that i spend 40 hours a week on michigan avenue, grad school has made shopping a near impossibility. that, combined with a heightened need for sleep that has left my coveted coffee/internet/outfit-styling ritual a thing of the past, i'm now faced with a need to instill a bit of creativity into a wardrobe that often seems tired, stale, and worn to death.

as the entire functionality of our lives moves to the internet, there's been an eruption of "how-to" beauty/styling videos posted by savvy individuals on youtube, to help people like me who are tired of their wardrobe, find creative and fun new ways to wear what they already have discotheque confusion posted a few on tuesday that are faaaabulous, and should definitely be checked out. she mentioned that fashion is supposed to be fun, and that that's often forgotten in lieu of looking good. i often fall into that trap, but this morning - as i was trying to suck down the only cup of coffee i had time for, while simultaneously talking to my mom, putting on eyeliner, and fixing my hair - it was kind of nice to throw on some pieces that i hadn't touched in a while: a cerulean short jacket with puffy, balmain-esque sleeves, over a black tunic, skinnies, black patent tux shoes, and a big old '80s-inspired pendant. comfy, and fun, my outfit gave me exactly the energy i needed to spice up the (still too busy) end of the week.

shop your closet! put a little creativity back in your life.

style inspiration

wildfox

immediately upon seeing these photos i thought, "what perfect style inspiration." easy, chic pieces styled comfortably and simply. and i couldn't be more over the moon about those wedges...i don't think in a million, trillion years could i have too many wedges.

i hopped it on over to zoe and these are calling my name in ways i can't even handle:

costume national sandy ankle boot

elizabeth and james cut suede wedges

chloe terry wedges
