pour homme, pour moi?

this iconic image of ysl, used for the original campaign for his pour homme fragrance was taken by jeanloup sieff, and will soon be auctioned off at christie's in paris. read more about that here.

dibs on being my best friend for life to whoever procures this for me.

crazy coco

i love this kooky, witty editorial shot by tim walker for vogue uk/nov 2006. the experimentation with the proportion of accessories is so creative, and i love the overall visuals created by each photo. coco's a perfect model for this kind of concept because she has such a tangible personality. she really balances having a life/self within the "models should be seen & not heard" world.

j'adore paris

i'm in such a street style mode right now. with all of the images revolving from fashion week street style, i had to jump on the bandwagon with some of my faves. these lovely women were all rocking their fierce personal style in paris - tres fab, tres chic. their ingenuity is inspiring me to NOT wear the same thing every damn day of my life.

fashion in the mirror

i found these images from a london art exhibit in the online mag, trendland magazine. they're stunning, and they represent part of a collection of images that showcase the behind the scenes of fashion editorial photography. i love the aged, vintage quality of some of the photos.

there's effort behind the effortless, indeed there is.

"Fashion in the Mirror or Self-Reflection in Fashion Photography, was an exhibition in London who undress international fashion photographers and question the creation of perfect beauty. Fashion in the Mirror is an overview of their self-examination and a rare look behind-the-scenes of fashion photography from the 1950s to the present day. Many of the shots capture the actual photographers at work…"

Finding both comedy and poetry in the set-up of the studio, the exhibiting photographers turn their cameras on the processes and paraphernalia of the fashion shoot.
Revealing the fashion industry’s secrets and undermining its glamorous illusions, the photographers in this exhibition create work that exposes this world from within.

The show features work from the 1940s to now by twenty-one top international names, including Richard Avedon, Terence Donovan, Nick Knight, Helmut Newton, Juergen Teller, Mario Testino and Jonathan de Villiers amongst others."

photog dreams

apparently i'm on some sort of shoe high this morning, because what stopped me when looking at this image were these ungodly perfect wedges. and then there's the cape, and the impeccable opaque-ness of the tights. this photograph is dreamy.

marc and juergen

there's been a lot of controversy over marc jacob's most current campaign photo, featuring makeup artist dick page and his husband kissing in various scenes throughout manhattan and long island. although juergen and marc have been known to produce provacative imagery and scandalous editorials together, its surprising that of all the nudity and racy photos the pair have put out into the world, that two clothed men, engaged in loving, non-gratuitous activity, causes the greatest uproar, not even allowed to run in vogue.

i cannot wait for the day when the majority of this country gets over their ridiculous homophobia. we're looking at the work of one of the industry's best photographers, best designers and best makeup artists. and that should be quite enough, thank you.

all of this is coinciding with the imminent release of the book "marc jacobs advertising by juergen teller 1998-2009" next week. which will be a whole lotta sinfully perfect eye candy.
