i adore this collection - it's absolutely gorgeous. tisci really embraced texture and volume (which, if you've ever seen my hair - two things i adore), and every look embraces its own idea of elegance. from ballgown to tux to separates to neon sequins, he really covered the gamut in a collection that was only 22 pieces (next to chanel's 65). for a couture collection, i think smaller is better. then each look has a chance to be truly spectacular and memorable.

i really wish more designers would do couture. such sensational pieces are produced within couture collections.

karl lagerfeld. you slay me. you slay me into one million pieces over and over again, and then you pause, and then you bring me silver space age bridal shoes and a shiny, skin-tight gold wedding tuxedo. oh, and the biggest, poufiest hair in the world, because you know how much i like volume and aerosol hairspray. it's fine when you don't tweet me back (i lied. it hurts just a little. i do retweet your sagely quotations nearly constantly), because you make my life a dream every time i look at your ridiculous, perfect creations; creations that consistently defy anything that's ever been designed before, in the history of the world. karl. i implore you. let's be friends. i promise to hide my ysl tattoo and not ever eat anything. you won't regret it.

moodboard featured this on image from a 2001 vogue photo editorial on her blog the other day, and it's just divine. what a perfectly editorial way to pay homage to the season.

what if the world was made up of glamourous creatures who wore only couture and could be distinguished by a single animal body part? which couture glaminal would you be?

coutureeeeee is hereeeeeee

dior is the only couture show that's been posted thus far, and i'm so excited to see what else designers have come up with for couture this year. i'm longing for something new, and crazy, and conceptual, and i'm bored with looking through editorials to get it.

i love how raw and sexed up the whole collection is...the thigh highs and exposed bustiers, smoldering eyes and deep red lips. it's like russian film noir, the models as dangerous, ruthless femme fatales, seducing everything in their path with their couture poses and sultry movements. chanel iman's look is my favorite, along with heloise guerin in the red dress with the feathered hat and exposed lace slip. you can feel the seduction emanating from the photograph.

couture collections tell such fantastical stories. it would be kind of fun to pull an "across the universe" (a musical whose story was told through beatles songs, for those who didn't see the film) couture style, writing short stories based on my favorite collections, dressing all my characters in haute couture. what a world that's created by fashion. i do love it so.
