bulldogs and shields

this weekend my mom came into town for some much needed lady time and retail/cocktail/foodie therapy. on saturday, we stopped into my favorite local boutique, hazel, to check out some new rings by the love of my life, jan michaels. her site doesn't do her jewelry justice, and the way it's merchandized in the catalogue is lame, because her pieces are insane and perfect and everything i ever want in jewelry.

the first ring of hers i bought had this gorgeous glad and black swirl print. i love the way the center is fixed onto the ring.

and then i found this bulldog ring and everything changed.

i mean. that's a bulldog ring.

and who doesn't love shields?

basically, anyone who makes a bulldog ring has my heart. i'm hoping she creates a whole menagerie of animal-themed rings that i can add to my collection. i don't even like animals (except for orca whales), but you can't really pass up a bulldog ring.

by 9am this morning, the cut had already posted this fabulous gold marc by marc jacobs zipper necklace (dutifully sent to me by kate, who's much better about our daily blog routine than i) - which i bought for myself for my birthday in november. there's also a multi-colored version that i got for my sister. they're absolutely gorgeous, and as they're priced brilliant at $13 a piece, you really can't go wrong. plus there's every incentive in the world to get one for yourself so that you can match your giftee.

not a bad way to give gifts at all, if i do say so myself.

who has $600 bones to throw my way? sigh. i'm such a sucker for ysl. and gold. and gold ysl. this is cuff is a dream, and only enhances my lifelong goal of someday having a closet which will be comprised of enough ysl pieces to keep me outfitted from head-to-toe, every day of the year.
